| Borneo is the third largest island in the world and is located at the centre of Maritime Southeast Asia. Administratively, this island is divided between Indonesia , Malaysia and Brunei . Indonesia 's region of Borneo is called Kalimantan, while Malaysia 's region of Borneo is called East Malaysia or Malaysian Borneo. |

| Geography |
Borneo is surrounded by the South China Sea to the north and northwest, the Sulu Sea to the northeast, the Celebes Sea and the Makassar Strait to the east, and the Java Sea and Karimata Strait to the south. It has an area of 743,330 km² (287,000 square miles).
To the west of Borneo are the Malay Peninsula and Sumatra . To the south is Java. To the east is the island of Sulawesi ( Celebes ). To the northeast is the Philippines .
Borneo's highest point is Mount Kinabalu in Sabah , Malaysia , with an elevation of 4,095 m (13,435 ft) above sea level. This makes it the world's third highest island.
The largest river systems are the Kapuas River, with approximately 1,143 km the longest river in Indonesia, the Rajang River in Sarawak with some 563 km the longest river in Malaysia, the Barito River about 880 km long and the Mahakam River about 980 km long.
Borneo is also known for its extensive cave systems. Clearwater cave has one of the world's longest underwater rivers. Deer cave, thought to be the largest cave passage in the world, is home to over three million bats and guano accumulated to over 100 metres high. |

Sarawak is located on the island of Borneo. It is the largest State among 13 States in Malaysia. The State of Sarawak cover an area of 124,449.51 sq. km, it is about 37% of the Malaysia total land area.
Sarawak also known as the Land of Hornbills. It was naturally blessed with vast areas of both lowland and highland rainforest. Sarawak's forests are the State's most important resource and asset, producing timber and a multitude of forest products. The rainforest is home to an incredible variety of more than 8,000 species of flora and over 20,000 fauna, the majority of which are insects. Sarawak also rich in its' cultural, history and heritage; natural and adventure.
The administrative of Sarawak is currently divided into eleven divisions namely Kuching Division, Samarahan Division, Sri Aman Division, Betong Division, Sarikei Division, Sibu Division, Mukah Division, Kapit Division, Bintulu Division, Miri Division and Limbang Division. Kuching is the capital of Sarawak.
Sarawak is the most multi-racial state in Malaysia with over 24 distinct ethnic groups; the major groups are the Ibans, Chinese, Bidayuh, Malays, Melanau and the Orang Ulu . The current population of Sarawak is 2 million and covers an area of 125,000 sq. km . |

| Kuching |
Kuching Division is one of the eleven administrative divisions in Sarawak, east Malaysia, on the island of Borneo. Formerly the called "First Division", it is the center and the starting point of modern Sarawak. Kuching Division has a total area of 4,559.5 square kilometers.The word Kuching comes from the word 'kucing' which brings the meaning of cat. Kuching is also known as Cat City.
Kuching Division contains three administrative districts: Kuching, Bau, and Lundu. The total population was 606,000 per the year 2000 census. |
